The Vermont House of Representatives has introduced a concurrent resolution in memory of K-9 Police Officer Gracie, a distinguished member of the Bennington Police Department. Gracie was recognized for her exceptional service, which included over 500 deployments, the successful location of more than 70 individuals, and significant contributions to drug and currency recovery valued at over $1.6 million. Her presence was not only felt in law enforcement but also in the community, as she participated in local school visits and community events, earning widespread respect and admiration.
The resolution expresses condolences to the Bennington Police Department and Gracie's many supporters following her sudden passing on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024. A memorial service attended by over 500 people honored her legacy, featuring tributes and a 21-gun salute. In recognition of her contributions, a new K-9 training yard will be dedicated in her honor. The resolution also directs the Secretary of State to send copies to relevant officials within the Bennington Police Department.
