House concurrent resolution honoring Barbara Reilly for her more than four decades of
dedicated public service at the Vermont Veterans’ Home Offered by: Representatives Morrissey of Bennington, Carroll of Bennington, Corcoran of Bennington, and Whitman of Bennington Offered by: Senators Campion and Sears Whereas, in August 1977, when she was 18 years of age, Barbara Reilly joined the staff of the Vermont Veterans’ Home (the Home) and enjoyed a warm and caring rapport with the veterans, and Whereas, this Vermont State Employees’ Association member started her career at the Home working in the kitchen, and, after two years, she moved to the housekeeping staff,
on which she remained for the following decade, and Whereas, subsequently, Barbara Reilly worked in the activities program in an area of
the Home known as the Social Room, and Whereas, her reputation as a hard worker who was devoted to the veterans and their families was well-deserved, and she personally considered them as part of her family, and Whereas, Barbara Reilly loved her work at the Home, rarely missed a day, and brought
a sense of fun into the activities for which she was responsible, and Whereas, gardening and attending musical events, at which she would dance and sing with the veterans, were especially pleasurable activities for her, and Whereas, Barbara Reilly concluded her 42 years as a Vermont Veterans’ Home employee in December 2019, now therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly honors Barbara Reilly for her more than four decades of
dedicated public service at the Vermont Veterans’ Home, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Barbara Reilly.
