welfare and rights of people who live in licensed long-term care facilities… [as well as of those] who receive long-term care through…[the] Choices for Care…program,” and Vermont Legal Aid is an important resource for long-term care ombudsman support services, and Whereas, for three decades, Michelle Carter, a graduate of Norwich University, has proudly served as a highly respected Vermont Legal Aid Long-Term Care Ombudsman,
and, for nearly all of the prior decade, held a similar position in Vermont and Minnesota,
and Whereas, her expertise, compassion, and intuitive pedagogic skill have provided an
outstanding foundation for training and mentoring many of her Vermont ombudsman colleagues, and Whereas, she continues to exemplify a true dedication to the ombudsman role, a remarkable ability to resolve issues that arise in practice, and good humor, and all of these attributes contribute to a stellar professional performance, and Whereas, Michelle Carter’s reputation as a model ombudsman has garnered her much praise and admiration, both among her clients in Vermont and her peers throughout the country, and Whereas, her vibrant life is equally devoted to her family and many hobbies, now therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly honors Michelle Carter of Barre City on the 30th anniversary of her dedicated service as a Vermont Legal Aid Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Michelle Carter and to Vermont Legal Aid.
