Williams of Barre City, Williams of Granby, and Wood of Waterbury Offered by: Senators Collamore, Hardy, Perchlik, Watson, Weeks, and Wrenner Whereas, nurses in the United States constitute our nation’s largest health care profession, and the breadth of the nursing profession continues to meet the different and emerging health care needs of the American population, and Whereas, professional nursing is an indispensable component of safe and effective health care, and the demand for nursing services will increase as the nation’s population ages and as new life-sustaining technologies develop, and Whereas, the high-quality health care services that nurses provide will be an increasingly important component of the United States health care delivery system in the future, and Whereas, annually, during the first full week in May, the American Nurses Association
(ANA) and the ANA-Vermont celebrate and promote the nursing profession through the observance of National Nurses Week, and Whereas, in 2024, National Nurses Week is May 6–12, and this commemoration is
centered on the theme “Nurses Make the Difference,” and Whereas, the highlight of ANA-Vermont’s 2024 commemoration of National Nurses Week will occur on May 9 when ANA-Vermont Hill Day is observed at the State House as an appreciation for Vermont’s nurses’ unparalleled impact during the pandemic, their vital contribution to health care, and as an open invitation to Vermonters to thank nurses for their efforts, now therefore be it VT LEG #377676 v.1

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly recognizes May 6–12, 2024 as National Nurses Week in
Vermont and designates May 9, 2024 as ANA-Vermont Hill Day at the State House, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
ANA-Vermont.
