No. R-290. House concurrent resolution congratulating the 2023 Hartford High School Hurricanes Division II championship field hockey team.

Offered by: Representatives Christie of Hartford and Cole of Hartford Offered by: Senators Clarkson, McCormack, and White Whereas, the Hartford Hurricanes played magnificently through the fall, and they had posted a 14–2 record as they entered the State championship game against the 13–2-overall Woodstock Wasps at the University of Vermont, and Whereas, with just a minute remaining before the halftime break, a Hurricane executed
a one-time shot, resulting in the crucial first goal, and, at 6:30 into the second half, in the midst of a scramble in front of the Wasps’ goal, another Hartford player knocked in a rebound increasing the Hurricanes’ lead to 2–0, and Whereas, the Hurricanes’ highly effective defensive tactics prevented the Wasps from scoring even a single goal, enabling Hartford to claim its 12th field hockey crown, and Whereas, Hurricanes Paige Vielleux, Olivia Seaver, Madison Barwood, Charlotte Jasmin, Kennedi Rhodes, Aubree Vail, Leah Arsenault, Kamryn Brower, Paige Trombly,
Grace Brothers, Devyn Potter, Maddi Willey, Hailey Vanasse, Gabby Gardner, Mackenzie Bennett, Miranda Rogers, and Flynn Moreno each played their best, and Whereas, Head Coach Heather Scudder, Assistant Coach Gail Patch, and Goalie Coach Rachel Loseby expertly guided the Hurricanes to this wonderful victory, now therefore be
it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the 2023 Hartford High School Hurricanes Division II championship field hockey team, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Hartford High School.
