his colleagues in the Vermont Principals’ Association recognized in honoring him as the
2023 Vermont Principal of the Year, and Whereas, after graduating from Boston College, Chris Young’s early professional roles were as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal in Massachusetts, and he eventually decided to return home to northern Vermont, where, prior to assuming the principalship at
North Country Union High School (NCUHS), he held principalships at both the Craftsbury Academy and the Troy School, and Whereas, Chris Young is also a presence on the national public education scene through his position as the Vermont coordinator for the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and Whereas, in this role, he has brought a special Vermont perspective to public policy deliberations, and Whereas, because the National Association of Secondary School Principals is so impressed with Chris Young’s effectiveness in promoting the importance of high-quality public education “in federal, state, and local policy discussions,” the organization has selected him as its 2024 Advocacy Champion of the Year, now therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates North Country Union High School Principal Christopher Young on being named the National Association of Secondary School Principals 2024 Advocacy Champion of the Year, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Chris Young and to NCUHS.
