10 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to require the
11 Department of Motor Vehicles, in consultation with the Office of Veterans’
12 Affairs and other interested stakeholders, to review the specialty plates that are
13 currently available for veterans in Vermont and determine if any currently
14 offered specialty plates should be retired and if any new specialty plates should
15 be offered, such as branch of service or combat service, with consideration
16 paid to, at a minimum, the current number of each specialty plate issued by the
17 Department, the overall cost of the specialty plate program, and the cost to
18 produce and make available a new specialty plate. This bill also proposes to
19 require that the Department file a written report on the results of its review and
20 any recommended changes to statute to the House and Senate Committees on
