Act No. 94 (H.621). An act relating to health insurance coverage for diagnostic breast
imaging
Subjects: Health; health insurance; diagnostic imaging; breast imaging
This act amends an existing health insurance coverage requirement for mammograms
to also require health plans to cover other medically necessary breast imaging services
upon recommendation of a health care provider as needed to detect the presence of breast
cancer and other abnormalities of the breast or breast tissue. The act specifies that the
plan must cover the full cost of the imaging service without any patient cost-sharing,
except to the extent that such coverage would cause a high-deductible health plan to lose
its eligibility for a health savings account under federal law.
