5 Subject: Crimes and criminal procedure; prostitution
6 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to eliminate
7 offenses related to the location of prostitution while retaining the offenses of
8 aiding or abetting, engaging in, or procuring or soliciting prostitution.
9 An act relating to prostitution
10 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
11 Sec. 1. 13 V.S.A. § 2632 is amended to read:
12 § 2632. PROSTITUTION
13 (a) A person shall not:
14 (1) occupy a place, structure, building, or conveyance for the purpose of
15 prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
16 (2) knowingly permit a place, structure, building, or conveyance owned
17 by the person or under the person’s control to be used for the purpose of
18 prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;

1 (3) receive or offer, or agree to receive, a person into a place, structure,
2 building, or conveyance for the purpose of prostitution, lewdness, or
3 assignation;
4 (4) permit a person to remain in a place, structure, building, or
5 conveyance for the purpose of prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
6 (5) direct, take or transport, or offer or agree to take or transport a
7 person to a place, structure, building, or conveyance or to any other person
8 knowingly, or with reasonable cause to know that the purpose of such
9 directing, taking, or transporting is prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
10 (6) procure or solicit or offer to procure or solicit a person for the
11 purpose of prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
12 (7) reside in, enter or remain in a place, structure, or building or enter or
13 remain in a conveyance for the purpose of prostitution, lewdness, or
14 assignation;
15 (8)(2) engage in prostitution, lewdness, or assignation; or
16 (9)(3) aid or abet prostitution, lewdness, or assignation, by any means
17 whatsoever.
18 (b) A person who violates a provision of subsection (a) of this section shall
19 be fined not more than $100.00 or may be imprisoned not more than one year
20 or fined not more than $100.00, or both. For a second or subsequent offense VT LEG #372680 v.1

1 such, a person shall be imprisoned for not more than three years or fined not
2 more than $100.00, or both.
3 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
4 This act shall take effect on passage.
