Act No. 93 (H.603). An act relating to the poultry slaughter exception to inspection
Subjects: Agriculture; preparation of poultry products; exception to inspection
This act repeals the requirement that poultry slaughtered under one of the three
exceptions to slaughter inspection may only be sold as a whole bird from the farm, at a
farmers’ market, or to a food restaurant. Farmers would be allowed to sell the poultry
parts of up to 1,000, 5,000, or 20,000 birds, depending on compliance with criteria for
each level of inspection exception. In addition, the act clarifies that poultry slaughtered
under one of the slaughter exceptions may only be sold as a raw poultry product.
