Offered by: Representatives McCarthy of St. Albans City and Toof of St. Albans Town Whereas, Albert Corey was born in Burlington and graduated from Rice Memorial High School, and Whereas, starting as a teenager, Al Corey became a radio broadcaster working at several stations as a newscaster, disc jockey, and as a sports announcer at what was known as
WWSR, and Whereas, he later taught business at Bellows Free Academy–St. Albans (BFA–St.
Albans) and worked as a Handy Dealership salesperson, and Whereas, Al Corey served on the boards of BFA–St. Albans, Maple Run Union School District, and the Collins Perley Sports Facility; was active in Franklin County Democratic politics, including a tenure as the St. Albans City Democratic Party Chair; and was an
active leader of many other civic organizations and community activities, and Whereas, for many years, Al Corey served as a Eucharistic Minister for Holy Angels Parish in St. Albans, and Whereas, Al Corey died on January 17, 2023, at 83 years of age, predeceased by his wife, Nancy, and his survivors include his children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren, now therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly extends its sincere condolences to the family of Albert D.
Corey of St. Albans, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
the members of Albert D. Corey’s family.
