Act No. 17 (H. 288). An act relating to liability for the sale of alcoholic beverages
Subjects: Alcoholic beverages; sale to intoxicated persons; unlawful sale; civil
action for damages
This act amends Vermont’s liquor liability statute to establish standards for an action
based on the unlawful sale or negligent service of alcoholic beverages. This act also
requires the Department of Liquor and Lottery to adopt rules governing the minimum
liquor liability coverage requirements for first-, third-, and fourth-class licensees.
Effective Date: Multiple effective dates, beginning on July 1, 2023
