Act No. 26 (S. 73). An act relating to workers’ compensation coverage for firefighters with
cancer
Subjects: Labor; workers’ compensation; cancer; firefighters
This act establishes additional circumstances under which the workers’ compensation
law entitles a firefighter who is diagnosed with cancer to a presumption that the cancer is
caused by work-related exposure. This law also requires reports on both potential
opportunities to improve safety for firefighters and projected impacts to the workers’
compensation system of further expanding the presumption that certain types of cancer
resulted from a firefighter’s work-related exposure.
