10 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to create the
11 Legislative Office of Government Accountability and Strategic Planning in the
12 Legislative Branch to assist the General Assembly in monitoring and
13 improving the performance of State government; evaluating the operations and
14 efficacy of State agencies, departments, and programs; developing strategies to
15 harness Vermont’s strengths through prioritized investments in individuals and
16 businesses, the economy, the natural environment, and infrastructure; assessing
17 the extent to which State government is sufficiently and appropriately staffed
18 to meet its obligations; and ensuring that public funds are being used
19 appropriately and in the manner for which they were appropriated or otherwise
20 allocated.
