This bill requires the State Board of Education to create model policies on the use of technology and artificial intelligence in a public school classroom.
This bill:
- defines terms;
- requires the State Board of Education (state board) to include artificial intelligence standards in certain core education standards;
- creates certain requirements for a local education agency (LEA) related to the use of technology in the classroom;
- requires the state board to create a model policy on:
the balanced use of technology in the classroom; andthe use of artificial intelligence in the classroom;
- creates certain requirements for specific grade levels when using technology in the classroom;
- creates a reporting requirement;
- gives authority to the state board to create rules;
- requires LEAs to provide additional resources to certain students; and
- allows public high schools to create and offer a sandbox artificial intelligence course.Statutes affected:
