8 General Description:
9 This bill amends provisions related to the safe relinquishment of a newborn child.

21 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
22 Section 1. Section 80-4-501 is amended to read:
23 80-4-501. Definitions.
24 As used in this part:
25 (1) "Hospital" means a general acute hospital, as that term is defined in Section

26 26B-2-201, that is:
27 (a) equipped with an emergency room;
28 (b) open 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
29 (c) employs full-time health care professionals who have emergency medical services
30 training.
31 (2) "Newborn child" means a child who is approximately [30] 90 days old or younger,
32 as determined within a reasonable degree of medical certainty.
33 Section 2. Effective date.
34 This bill takes effect on May 1, 2024.
