3 LONG TITLE
4 General Description:
5 This bill amends provisions regarding the number of judges in each judicial district.
6 Highlighted Provisions:
7 This bill:
8 ▸ increases the number of district court judges in the Third Judicial District;
9 ▸ increases the number of juvenile court judges in the Fourth Judicial District; and
10 ▸ makes technical and conforming changes.

20 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
21 Section 1. Section 78A-1-103 is amended to read:
22 78A-1-103 . Number of district court judges.
23 The number of district court judges [shall be] is:
24 (1) four district court judges in the First Judicial District;
25 (2) 14 district court judges in the Second Judicial District;
26 (3) [31] 32 district court judges in the Third Judicial District;
27 (4) 13 district court judges in the Fourth Judicial District;
28 (5) seven district court judges in the Fifth Judicial District;

29 (6) two district court judges in the Sixth Judicial District;
30 (7) three district court judges in the Seventh Judicial District; and
31 (8) three district court judges in the Eighth Judicial District.
32 Section 2. Section 78A-1-104 is amended to read:
33 78A-1-104 . Number of juvenile court judges.
34 The number of juvenile court judges [shall be] is:
35 (1) two juvenile court judges in the First [Juvenile] Judicial District;
36 (2) six juvenile court judges in the Second [Juvenile] Judicial District;
37 (3) nine juvenile court judges in the Third [Juvenile] Judicial District;
38 (4) [six juvenile] seven juvenile court judges in the Fourth [Juvenile] Judicial District;
39 (5) three juvenile court judges in the Fifth [Juvenile] Judicial District;
40 (6) two juvenile court judges in the Sixth [Juvenile] Judicial District;
41 (7) two juvenile court judges in the Seventh [Juvenile] Judicial District; and
42 (8) two juvenile court judges in the Eighth [Juvenile] Judicial District.
43 Section 3. Effective date.
44 This bill takes effect on May 1, 2024.
