                               RESOLUTION

 Condemning the politically motivated attack on April 25, 2026, at the
White House Correspondents' Association Dinner and denouncing political
                               violence.

Whereas, on April 25, 2026, shots were fired at the White House Correspondents'
        Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC;
Whereas President Donald J. Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD
        Vance, and members of the Cabinet were evacuated by the United States
        Secret Service following the attack;
Whereas the gunman espoused ideals of political violence and lawless retribution
        in a public manifesto;
Whereas the gunman, armed with multiple firearms and knives, expressed intent to
        directly target President Trump and Trump administration officials;
Whereas the gunman had documents that declared himself a ``Friendly Federal
        Assassin'', making clear that the attack was a premeditated, politically
        motivated act of violence;
Whereas agents of the United States Secret Service quickly apprehended the
        suspect shortly after shots were fired and saved lives by intervening
        with their bravery and rapid response to the attack;
Whereas one officer of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division was
        injured during the shooting and is expected to make a full recovery;
Whereas this is the third assassination attempt against President Trump and
        follows a troubling escalation in politically motivated violence;
Whereas the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner has served for over a
        century as a celebration of the free press and the First Amendment
        values foundational to United States democracy;
Whereas political violence of any kind is antithetical to the principles of
        democratic self-governance and has no place in the United States; and
Whereas President Trump, during his immediate remarks following the attack,
        emphasized national unity by urging United States citizens to ``recommit
        with their hearts in resolving our differences peacefully'': Now,
        therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) condemns unequivocally political violence in all forms;
            (2) commends the United States Secret Service, the Federal
        Bureau of Investigation, the Metropolitan Police Department,
        United States Capitol Police, and all law enforcement personnel
        who responded with courage and professionalism to protect all
        guests in attendance;
            (3) works to ensure that future politically motivated
        attacks do not happen again;
            (4) urges United States citizens to reconcile differences
        peacefully through open discussion and civil debate;
            (5) calls upon all elected officials, public figures, and
        media organizations to unequivocally reject any rhetoric that
        encourages political violence and dehumanizes political
        opponents; and
            (6) reiterates the urgency of Congress swiftly passing a
        Department of Homeland Security funding bill, including robust
        funding for the United States Secret Service, to protect our
        Nation's leaders and United States citizens.
