RESOLUTION
Recognizing the 10th anniversary of the first export shipment of
liquefied natural gas produced in the lower 48 States.
Whereas, on February 24, 2016, the United States shipped its first export cargo
of liquefied natural gas produced in the lower 48 States, when the Asia
Vision left Cheniere's Sabine Pass Liquefaction facility in the Gulf of
America destined for Brazil;
Whereas the first shipment marked a historic milestone in American energy
production and global trade and demonstrated the technological
innovation, workforce expertise, and private sector investment that
enabled the United States to become a reliable supplier of liquefied
natural gas to global markets;
Whereas, over the past decade, liquefied natural gas exports from the lower 48
States have supported economic growth and enhanced the United States
role as a global energy leader, strengthening the energy security of
allies and partners;
Whereas the development of liquefied natural gas export capacity has supported
an annual average of 273,000 American jobs across the energy value
chain, including production, transportation, construction, engineering,
and operations, and contributed more than $400,000,000,000 in economic
growth;
Whereas, over the past decade, United States liquefied natural gas export
terminals have shipped more than 8,500 cargoes to over 40 countries and
regions around the world;
Whereas liquefied natural gas has helped to reduce emissions when replacing
higher emitting fuels in electricity generation and industrial use;
Whereas the first export shipment of liquefied natural gas from the lower 48
States represented a turning point in the Nation's energy history,
reflecting decades of innovation, regulatory cooperation, and
infrastructure development;
Whereas February 24, 2026, marks the 10th anniversary of this significant
achievement in United States energy production and export capability;
and
Whereas the United States is now the largest global exporter of liquefied
natural gas, providing a reliable and affordable source of energy to
friends and allies around the world: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) recognizes and celebrates the 10th anniversary of the
first export shipment of liquefied natural gas produced in the
lower 48 States;
(2) honors the workers, innovators, and communities whose
efforts made this milestone possible;
(3) acknowledges the role of liquefied natural gas exports
in supporting United States economic growth, energy security,
and international partnerships; and
(4) reaffirms the importance of continued innovation and
leadership in the responsible development of American energy
resources.
