Committee on Financial Services, and in addition to the Committee on
Foreign Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the
Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall
within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To require the Comptroller General of the United States to study and
report to the Congress on the 2025 financial crisis in Argentina.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Argentina Bailout Oversight Act''.
SEC. 2. GAO REPORT.
(a) Study.--The Comptroller General of the United States shall
conduct a study of the 2025 financial crisis in Argentina.
(b) Scope.--The study shall include--
(1) an examination on the origins of Argentina's financial
crisis;
(2) an assessment of the extent to which the United States
Government and the International Monetary Fund have been aware
of Argentina's financial problems and provided relevant advice
to Argentina;
(3) a description of the United States and international
response to the crisis, including an assessment of the terms
and conditions of the agreements implementing United States
assistance to address the crisis;
(4) an analysis of the statutory authority of the Secretary
of the Treasury to use the Exchange Stabilization Fund to fund
United States assistance; and
(5) an examination of the efforts of Argentina to recover
from the crisis.
(c) Report to Congress.--Within 18 months after the date of the
enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the
Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives and the
Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate a report
containing the findings and conclusions of the study required by
subsection (b).
(d) Publication.--After submitting the report required by
subsection (c), the Comptroller General shall make the report publicly
available on the website of the Government Accountability Office.
