  bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance

                                 A BILL


 
   To provide for the treatment of certain critical access hospitals.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Restoring Rural Health Act''.

SEC. 2. TREATMENT OF CERTAIN CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITALS.

    Section 1820(c)(2)(B)(i) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 
1395i-4(c)(2)(B)(i)) is amended--
            (1) in subclause (I), by striking ``or'' after the 
        semicolon;
            (2) in subclause (II), by inserting ``or'' after the 
        semicolon; and
            (3) by adding at the end the following new subclause:
                                    ``(III) is a facility that--
                                            ``(aa) as of January 1, 
                                        2024, was designated as a 
                                        critical access hospital; and
                                            ``(bb) receives notice from 
                                        the Centers for Medicare & 
                                        Medicaid Services during the 
                                        period beginning on December 1, 
                                        2024, and ending on January 1, 
                                        2027, that the facility was 
                                        found to be noncompliant with 
                                        the distance requirement under 
                                        section 485.610(c) of title 42, 
                                        Code of Federal Regulations (or 
                                        a successor regulation);''.
