                               RESOLUTION

Condemning the tragic act of violence that took place in New York City,
honoring the lives of the victims of the attack, commending the bravery
of the New York City Police Department, and condemning acts of violence
                   against law enforcement officials.

Whereas, on July 28, 2025, a crazed madman opened fire on innocent civilians in
        a New York City office building;
Whereas the suspect, armed with a rifle, ultimately took the lives of 3
        civilians and 1 brave New York City Police Department (``NYPD'') officer
        before the suspect was successfully neutralized by the NYPD;
Whereas the violent killing spree marks the deadliest gun attack to take place
        in New York City in 25 years;
Whereas the police officer slain in the attack, Didarul Islam, rushed towards
        the danger, determined to save the lives of his fellow New Yorkers no
        matter the cost;
Whereas Didarul Islam, who paid the ultimate price in service of his fellow
        citizens, was a loving husband and father who leaves behind a pregnant
        wife and 2 young children;
Whereas Aland Etienne, an on-duty security officer, was also tragically murdered
        by the gunman during the attack in New York City;
Whereas the continued calls for violence against Federal, State, and local law
        enforcement officers present an exigent threat against those who
        honorably serve and protect the people of the United States; and
Whereas acts of unconscionable violence have no place in the United States, and
        should be resoundingly condemned by leaders on both sides of the
        political aisle: Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) condemns the senseless act of violence in New York City
        that tragically claimed the lives of 3 civilians and NYPD
        police officer Didarul Islam;
            (2) honors the lives of the victims who were killed in the
        attack and expresses support and condolences for the families
        and loved ones of the victims;
            (3) commends the bravery exhibited by Didarul Islam, Aland
        Etienne, and the entirety of the NYPD for the heroism they
        displayed in responding to and neutralizing the shooter; and
            (4) condemns divisive rhetoric and violence against
        Federal, State, and local law enforcement officers and urges
        lawmakers to redouble their commitment to backing the blue.
