Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``SNAP Recertification Reform Act of 2024''. SEC. 2. WAIVER OF CERTAIN ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS FOR RECERTIFICATION UNDER SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. (a) In General.--Section 11(e)(6) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2020(e)(6)) is amended-- (1) in subparagraph (A), by striking ``and'' at the end; and (2) by adding at the end the following: ``(C) the State agency may waive recertification interviews required by the Secretary subject to the condition that the applicant-- ``(i) waives the interview; and ``(ii) has already demonstrated eligibility for the continuation of benefits; and ``(D) if the Secretary requires an applicant interview for recertification, the State agency shall give the applicant the option to conduct the interview in-person, by phone, virtually, or through any other medium determined by the Secretary to reduce administrative burden;''. (b) Effective Date.--The amendments made by subsection (a) shall take effect on the date that is 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act. <all>
