                                 A BILL


 
 To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to allow States to waive 
certain administrative requirements for recertification, and for other 
                               purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``SNAP Recertification Reform Act of 
2024''.

SEC. 2. WAIVER OF CERTAIN ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS FOR 
              RECERTIFICATION UNDER SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE 
              PROGRAM.

    (a) In General.--Section 11(e)(6) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 
2008 (7 U.S.C. 2020(e)(6)) is amended--
            (1) in subparagraph (A), by striking ``and'' at the end; 
        and
            (2) by adding at the end the following:
                    ``(C) the State agency may waive recertification 
                interviews required by the Secretary subject to the 
                condition that the applicant--
                            ``(i) waives the interview; and
                            ``(ii) has already demonstrated eligibility 
                        for the continuation of benefits; and
                    ``(D) if the Secretary requires an applicant 
                interview for recertification, the State agency shall 
                give the applicant the option to conduct the interview 
                in-person, by phone, virtually, or through any other 
                medium determined by the Secretary to reduce 
                administrative burden;''.
    (b) Effective Date.--The amendments made by subsection (a) shall 
take effect on the date that is 180 days after the date of enactment of 
this Act.
