A BILL
To require the Transportation Security Administration conduct a study
relating to the digitization of the law enforcement officer flying
armed checkpoint data collection process, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Repair of the National Law
Enforcement Telecommunications System Act of 2024''.
SEC. 2. STUDY RELATING TO DIGITIZATION OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
FLYING ARMED CHECKPOINT DATA COLLECTION PROCESS.
(a) In General.--Not later than 180 days after the date of the
enactment of this Act, the Administrator of the Transportation Security
Administration, acting through the Director of the Federal Air Marshal
Service, shall conduct a study on the digital data collection process
for law enforcement officers who are flying armed.
(b) Elements.--The study required under subsection (a) shall
examine the following:
(1) Projected timelines for the digital data collection
process referred to in such subsection.
(2) Estimated resources required to implement such process.
(c) Briefing; Accessibility.--Upon completion of the study required
under subsection (a), the Administrator of the Transportation Security
Administration shall--
(1) provide to the Committee on Homeland Security of the
House of Representatives and the Committee on Science,
Commerce, and Transportation and the Committee on Homeland
Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate a briefing on
the findings of such study; and
(2) make such study accessible in a digital format suitable
for use by the Administration.
