Commission to Study the Potential Transfer of the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History to the Smithsonian Institution Act

This bill establishes a commission to study the potential transfer of the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History to the Smithsonian Institution.

Within two years of its first meeting, the commission must submit a report, fundraising plan, and legislative recommendations to Congress and the President. The report must address certain issues, including (1) the impact of the museum on educational and governmental efforts to study and counter anti-Semitism, and (2) financial and legal considerations associated with the potential transfer.
