A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to give marriage
and family therapists participating in the National Health Service
Corps Loan Repayment Program the option of completing a postgraduate
degree clinical training program that is accredited by the State in
which the program is located in lieu of such a program that is
accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family
Therapy Education.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Bringing More Therapists to the
Valley Act of 2024''.
SEC. 2. EXPANSION OF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
THERAPISTS PARTICIPATING IN THE NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE
CORPS LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM.
In issuing or updating guidance for the National Health Service
Corps Loan Repayment Program under section 338B of the Public Health
Service Act (42 U.S.C. 254l-1), the Secretary of Health and Human
Services, acting through the Administrator of the Health Resources and
Services Administration, shall give participants who are marriage and
family therapists the option of completing a postgraduate degree
clinical training program in marriage and family therapy that is
accredited by the State in which the program is located in lieu of such
a program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for
Marriage and Family Therapy Education.
