Born on August 27, 1933, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, she was the daughter of Manuel Briones and Nieves Guerrero and grew up with five siblings. Mrs. Martinez dedicated much of her life to supporting her family as a migrant farm worker, traveling across several states. She was actively involved in her community, contributing to voter registration efforts with the Raza Unida Party, serving as president of the Nueva Vida organization, and working with the Iglesia Primera Bautista Fellowship church for over 50 years. She was also a cook for the La Salle County Elderly Nutrition Center.

The resolution expresses heartfelt condolences to her family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother, Cristobal Briones. It acknowledges her legacy of service, love, and dedication to her family, which includes seven children and a large number of descendants. The Texas Senate pays tribute to her life and contributions, and an official copy of the resolution will be prepared for her family. The resolution was adopted by the Senate on September 4, 2025, by a rising vote.
