Born on August 27, 1933, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, she was the daughter of Manuel Briones and Nieves Guerrero and grew up with five siblings. Throughout her life, Mrs. Martinez worked as a migrant farm worker, traveling across several states to support her family. She was actively involved in her community, contributing to voter registration efforts with the Raza Unida Party, serving as president of the Nueva Vida organization, and dedicating over 50 years to the Iglesia Primera Bautista Fellowship church. She was also a cook for the La Salle County Elderly Nutrition Center.

Mrs. Martinez was a devoted mother to seven children and was blessed with a large family, including 27 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was married twice, first to Filiberto Martinez and later to Ernesto Consuegra. Known for her passion and generosity, she leaves behind a legacy of service and love that her family and friends will cherish. The resolution expresses heartfelt condolences to her family and directs that an official copy be prepared in her memory, with the Texas Senate adjourning in her honor.
