The resolution honors the life and memory of Katherine Frances Ferruzzo, a vibrant 19-year-old from Houston who tragically lost her life in the July 4, 2025, flooding in Kerr County. Born on June 21, 2006, Katherine was the daughter of John and Andrea DeLorenzo Ferruzzo and grew up alongside her two older brothers. She excelled academically at Memorial High School, where she held various leadership roles, including student council representative and chapter president of the Texas Association of Future Educators. Katherine was known for her dynamic personality, earning the title of "Life of the Party" among her peers, and she was set to attend The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in special education, inspired by her own experiences with speech therapy.

It highlights her dedication to community service, her involvement with students with autism, and her leadership at Camp Mystic, where she was set to return as a counselor. The Texas House of Representatives pays tribute to Katherine's accomplishments and the inspiration she provided to many, ensuring that her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for her family, and the House will adjourn in her memory.
