The resolution honors Tina Cannon for her retirement as president and chief executive officer of the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, effective September 12, 2025, after more than five years of dedicated service. Under her leadership, the chamber experienced significant growth, with membership increasing by over 500 percent. Ms. Cannon was instrumental in launching initiatives such as the Pride in Local Music Festival and expanding the Business of Pride Awards. She also played a key role in establishing the Diversity & Ethnic Chamber Alliance and promoting equity and inclusive investment through the Regional Equity in Economic Development Plan.
With a strong background in public service and entrepreneurship, Ms. Cannon has made substantial contributions to the LGBTQ+ business community in Austin. Her previous roles include serving as a senior policy analyst for the Austin City Council and vice president of local government relations at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. A Texas State University graduate with a degree in accounting, she has also co-founded several startups and served as an entrepreneur-in-residence. The resolution expresses the Texas House of Representatives' congratulations and best wishes for her future endeavors, acknowledging her lasting impact on the community.
