The resolution celebrates the 90th birthday of Ronald Paul Werner, a distinguished Texan from Taylor, who reached this milestone on June 26, 2025. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1935, Mr. Werner faced early challenges after the loss of his father but was raised by his devoted mother, Ruth. He earned a degree in industrial engineering and served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer and missile specialist. After his military service, he settled in El Paso, where he met and married Pat Ray. Together, they have two children and three grandchildren. Mr. Werner transitioned from a designer at a furniture plant to establishing his own dental practice after attending dental school.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Werner has been actively involved in his community through various civic organizations, including parent-teacher associations and church groups. He has shown strong support for the Republican Party and served as a precinct chair and poll watcher, as well as an 18-year member of the Taylor Independent School District board of trustees. His contributions to the community were recognized when he was named Citizen of the Year by the local Rotary Club in 1983. The resolution expresses the Texas House of Representatives' congratulations and best wishes for Mr. Werner's continued happiness, along with an official copy of the resolution to be prepared in his honor.
