Born in Franklin, Louisiana, in 1935, Mrs. Yarbrough has had a distinguished career in education, beginning as an art teacher at George Washington Carver Junior-Senior High School in 1959 and later transitioning to preschool and first-grade instruction. She spent a significant portion of her career at Pease/South Elementary School, where she took on various leadership roles and mentored countless students. After retiring in 1996, she continued to contribute to the community as a parent liaison and through her involvement with several organizations, including the Midland County Child Welfare Board and the United Way of Midland.
In recognition of her impactful career, Yarbrough Elementary School was named in her honor, and she has received numerous accolades, including the 2021-2022 LifeChanger of the Year Grand Prize and recognition as the Most Inspiring Educator in the Country by Texas Monthly.
