This resolution honors the elite urban search-and-rescue team from the Czech Republic for their invaluable assistance during the response to the devastating Hill Country flood that occurred on July 4, 2025. The flood resulted in the tragic loss of over 100 lives, and the 16-member Czech team, accompanied by four search and recovery dogs, played a crucial role in the coordinated search and recovery operations alongside the Texas National Guard. Their efforts were particularly commendable given the challenging conditions they faced while working along steep and hazardous riverbanks to locate approximately 100 missing victims.
The resolution acknowledges the longstanding partnership between the Texas National Guard and the Czech Republic, which has been in place for over three decades under the National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program. This collaboration has included mutual support during crises, such as the Texas National Guard's assistance to the Czech Republic following severe flooding in Ostrava in 2024. The resolution expresses profound gratitude for the Czech team's dedication, professionalism, and spirit of international solidarity, and it extends best wishes for their future endeavors while preparing an official copy of the resolution as a token of appreciation from the Texas House of Representatives.
