The resolution honors Linda Escobar of Corpus Christi for her remarkable 60-year career as a conjunto and Tejano artist, celebrated during an event she hosted on August 3, 2025. A native of Alice, Texas, Ms. Escobar began her musical journey at a young age, performing with her father, Eligio Escobar, a pioneer in the conjunto genre. Her early success was marked by the hit song "Frijolitos Pintos," which sold over a million records when she was just seven years old. Throughout her career, she established her own band, ZAMEN, collaborated with various artists, and created a unique blend of music that incorporated both Tex-Mex and Asian influences. She has released numerous albums and has been recognized with multiple honors, including inductions into several music halls of fame and a Lifetime Achievement award at the Tejano Music Awards.

In addition to her musical achievements, Ms. Escobar has made significant contributions to the community, founding the El Veterano Conjunto Festival in memory of her father, with proceeds benefiting the Eligio Escobar Scholarship Fund. The resolution expresses the Texas House of Representatives' congratulations to Ms. Escobar for her dedication to advancing Tejano and conjunto music, which has enriched the cultural landscape of Texas. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for her as a token of high regard from the legislature.
