The Texas Senate has passed a resolution recognizing the Sames Auto Group on the occasion of its 115th anniversary. Founded in 1910 as a division of the Sames and Moore Company, the Sames Auto Group began as Laredo Auto Sales, selling Ford vehicles and becoming the first automobile seller in Laredo. Over the years, the company has navigated challenges such as the Great Depression and World War II, thriving under the leadership of five generations of the Sames family. Notably, Harry "Hank" Sames III took over as general manager in 1981, followed by Evelyn Sames, who became the first woman to lead the company in 2010.

Today, the Sames Auto Group is recognized as the oldest automobile dealership in Texas and one of the oldest in the nation, with a significant presence across multiple cities and a diverse portfolio of automotive brands. The resolution commends the Sames family and their employees for their longstanding commitment to service, philanthropy, and community contributions, and extends best wishes for their future endeavors. A copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
