The resolution honors the life and legacy of Dewey William McClain, who passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in 1934, Mr. McClain grew up with four sisters and served in the United States Marine Corps before embarking on a 40-year career at Lone Star Steel. He also dedicated 24 years to serving as Justice of the Peace for Morris County. Mr. McClain was a devoted family man, married to his wife Diane for 42 years until her passing in 2012, and he took great pride in his children and extensive family, which includes 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A lifelong member of the Daingerfield Church of Christ, Mr. McClain enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, camping, and fishing, particularly relishing time spent with his family. The resolution expresses the Texas Senate's condolences to his family and friends, acknowledging the profound impact he had on their lives and the cherished memories he leaves behind. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for his family, and the Senate will adjourn in his memory.
