The resolution honors the life and legacy of Robert Louie Childress, who passed away on June 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on March 20, 1936, in Gilmer, Texas, he grew up in Ore City with seven siblings and served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic. He married Sue Smith on October 20, 1957, and together they raised two children, Keith and Elaine, and enjoyed a loving marriage that lasted nearly 68 years. Mr. Childress co-founded East Texas Acoustical, a successful ceiling and floor installation company, and was an active member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, contributing to various building projects.

The Texas Senate expresses its condolences to Mr. Childress's family, including his wife, children, grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
