The Senate of the State of Texas has passed a resolution recognizing the Midway High School softball team from Waco for their remarkable achievement in winning the 2025 University Interscholastic League Class 6A Division I state championship. The team secured their victory with a decisive 9-1 win against Clear Springs High School on May 31, 2025, at Red and Charline McCombs Field in Austin. This championship marks the third state title for the Midway Pantherettes since the program's inception in 1993.

The resolution highlights the exceptional leadership of Head Coach Jordan Williams and Assistant Coaches Taylor Ellis, Rachel Williams, and Maritza Martinez, as well as the dedication and talent of the players throughout the season. The accomplishment is celebrated not only by the team but also by the school's administration, including Principal Alison Smith, Associate Principal Dawn Griffin, and Athletic Director Brad Shelton, along with the broader community. The Texas Senate commends the team for their hard work and commitment to excellence, and a copy of the resolution will be prepared as a token of esteem for the team.
