The bill amends the Family Code and Government Code to allow for the use of digitized signatures in the execution of waivers of citation in marriage dissolution suits. Specifically, it removes the prohibition against signing waivers with digitized signatures, thereby enabling parties to utilize electronic methods for this process. Additionally, the bill clarifies that in proceedings under Titles 1 or 5 of the Family Code, electronic signatures can fulfill the requirements for notarization, acknowledgment, verification, or oaths, as long as they are properly associated with the required documentation.

The changes made by this Act apply to any waivers of citation executed in ongoing marriage dissolution cases as of the effective date or in cases filed thereafter. The Act is set to take effect 91 days after the conclusion of the legislative session.
