This bill amends the jurisdiction of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law and modifies the composition of the juvenile boards for Bee, Live Oak, and McMullen Counties. Specifically, it grants the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law concurrent jurisdiction with district courts in civil cases, including those where the matter in controversy exceeds the maximum amount specified in Section 25.0003(c)(1). Additionally, the bill updates the structure of the juvenile boards in the three counties by including the judge of the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law as a member, replacing the previous requirement for district judges in those counties.

The amendments to the Government Code and Human Resources Code ensure that the 2nd Multicounty Court at Law has a broader role in civil matters and enhances the juvenile boards' composition to include a representative from this court. The changes will only apply to cases filed or proceedings commenced on or after the effective date of the Act, with prior cases continuing under the former law. The Act is set to take effect 91 days after the conclusion of the legislative session.
