The Texas Senate has passed a resolution honoring the life and legacy of Doris Geneva Walters, who passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 100. Born on January 1, 1925, in Atlanta, Texas, Doris was the daughter of Walter and Lucille Walters and grew up with two sisters. She graduated from high school at 16 and worked in various roles, including as a riveter and lab technician, before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. During her military service, she achieved the rank of master sergeant, received the Air Force Commendation Medal, and completed two tours, including time in Germany.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1971, Doris returned to North Carolina for a brief period before coming back to Atlanta to care for her family. She was known for her compassion and generosity, as well as her love for reading, music, and the Dallas Cowboys. The resolution expresses condolences to her family, including her nephews and cousins, and acknowledges the impact she had on those who knew her. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for her family, and the Senate will adjourn in her memory.
