The Texas Senate has passed a resolution honoring Stephanie Nelson, who is set to retire from Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana in 2025 after nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the Liberty-Eylau Independent School District. Ms. Nelson began her career in the district as an instructional aide in 1997 and has since held various roles, including music specialist and middle school band director, ultimately serving as the director of music and band director at the high school. Her contributions to music education have been recognized through nominations for the Music Educator Award from the Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Museum.

As an alumna of Liberty-Eylau ISD and an accomplished All-State musician, Ms. Nelson has a deep-rooted passion for music, which she has shared with her students throughout her career. In retirement, she looks forward to spending more time with her family, including her daughter and grandson, and plans to establish a private lesson studio and judge scholastic competitions. The resolution expresses the Senate's congratulations and best wishes for her future endeavors, acknowledging the significant impact she has made on the lives of many young Texans.
