The resolution commemorates the 30th anniversary of Merced Housing Texas, an organization established in 1995 through the efforts of civic leader Maria Berriozbal and nine Catholic women’s congregations. The organization focuses on housing justice in San Antonio, providing support to low-income families by advocating for affordable housing, offering home repairs, and connecting residents with various financial, educational, and wellness services. Over the years, Merced Housing Texas has expanded its impact by acquiring and developing 14 multifamily buildings across seven Texas cities and distributing thousands of food units to residents.

The Texas Senate expresses its recognition of Merced Housing Texas's significant contributions to fostering healthy communities through quality, affordable housing and supportive services. The resolution extends best wishes for the organization's continued success in its mission to improve the well-being of Texas citizens and directs that an official copy of the resolution be prepared as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate.
