Senate Resolution No. 629 honors the memory of Joshua Daniel King, who passed away on April 5, 2025, at the age of 37. Born in Fort Worth and raised in Weatherford, Josh was the son of Phil and Terry King and had a close-knit family with five sisters. He graduated from Trinity Christian Academy and earned a bachelor's degree in business and an MBA from Dallas Baptist University, where he also played tennis. Josh had a successful career in business, becoming a partner at Steergate Payment Solutions and serving as CEO of Select Mat, among other roles. He was a devoted family man, married to Sarah Renfro in 2020, and they had a daughter, Katelyn.

Throughout his life, Josh was known for his deep faith, optimism, and integrity, which inspired those around him, especially during his battle with brain cancer. He actively participated in a men's Bible study group and enjoyed spending time with his family, including his 17 nieces and nephews, as well as engaging in hobbies like fishing and playing pickleball. The resolution expresses condolences to his family, including his wife, daughter, parents, and siblings, and acknowledges the lasting impact he made on the lives of many. The Texas Senate adopted this resolution on June 2, 2025, to honor his legacy.
