The resolution commemorates the 100th anniversary of the City of McCamey, Texas, which will be celebrated in 2025. Founded in 1925 following the discovery of oil in the area, McCamey quickly transformed from a railway siding into a bustling city of 10,000 residents, attracting families and entrepreneurs to the oil-rich Permian Basin. The town was incorporated in 1926 and became home to one of the first oil refineries in West Texas, contributing to its rapid growth and development. Despite the challenges faced by boomtowns, the community established essential institutions such as the McCamey Independent School District and a local newspaper, laying the groundwork for a lasting community.

Today, McCamey has a population of approximately 1,700 and continues to thrive as an oil-producing town while also benefiting from healthcare, retail, and ranching industries. The community is dedicated to preserving its rich history through institutions like the Mendoza Trail Museum, while also looking towards a future of expanding opportunities. The resolution expresses the Texas Senate's recognition of McCamey's contributions to the state and extends best wishes to its residents as they celebrate this significant milestone.
