Senate Resolution No. 592 honors Jeff Traylor, the former head football coach at Gilmer High School, for his induction into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. A native of Gilmer and a 1986 graduate of Gilmer High School, Traylor began his coaching career in 1990 and achieved remarkable success at Gilmer, leading the Buckeyes to three state championships, two runner-up finishes, and 12 district titles. With an impressive overall record of 175-26, he is recognized as one of the top high school football coaches in Texas history, earning multiple Coach of the Year awards and achieving perfect seasons.
After leaving Gilmer in 2014, Traylor continued his coaching career at various universities, including The University of Texas, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Arkansas, before becoming the head coach at The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2019. Under his leadership, the Roadrunners have secured two conference championships and five consecutive bowl appearances, including back-to-back victories in 2023 and 2024. The resolution expresses the Texas Senate's congratulations to Traylor for his achievements and extends best wishes for his future endeavors.
