Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 49 commemorates the 100th anniversary of Austin Oaks Church, which was originally established as the Swedish Evangelical Free Church of Austin on August 16, 1925. The church has a rich history, having transitioned from conducting services in Swedish to English in the late 1930s and relocating several times before settling at its current campus in southwest Austin in 2002. In 2014, the church adopted its present name, Austin Oaks Church, and has since continued to thrive under the leadership of pastors Brandon Zieske and BJ Forguson, offering a variety of ministries and outreach programs to its congregation.

The resolution acknowledges the significant role Austin Oaks Church has played in the lives of generations of Texans, providing spiritual guidance and community support. It expresses the Texas Legislature's best wishes for a meaningful celebration of this milestone and directs that a copy of the resolution be prepared for the church in honor of its centennial. The resolution was adopted by both the Senate and the House in April and May 2025, respectively.
