The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary on June 5, 2025, marking a significant milestone in its history. Founded in 1950 as the Texas Transportation Institute, TTI was established to support the Texas Highway Department through a collaboration with the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Over the years, TTI has made substantial contributions to transportation research, focusing on critical infrastructure advancements such as pavement materials and concrete bridge structures. The institute has also been pivotal in developing safety technologies, including guardrails and cable median barriers, and has published the influential Urban Mobility Report since 1987, which analyzes traffic congestion trends and solutions.

Today, TTI, which was renamed in 2012, employs over 700 professionals and engages in approximately $125 million worth of research annually, with more than 700 projects and over 200 sponsors. The organization continues to lead in addressing transportation challenges both in Texas and nationwide, while also educating future transportation professionals. In recognition of its significant contributions and achievements over the past 75 years, the Texas House of Representatives has passed a resolution to commemorate TTI's anniversary and extend best wishes for its continued success. An official copy of the resolution will be prepared for TTI as a token of esteem from the Texas House.
