Senate Resolution No. 277 honors Dr. Gene Getz for his service as Chaplain of the Day for the Texas Senate on March 19, 2025. Dr. Getz has made significant contributions to the church community since 1972, notably founding the Fellowship Bible Church movement, which has resulted in the establishment of numerous congregations across the nation, including in the Dallas area. He is the president of the Center for Church Renewal, a nonprofit he established in 1978, and serves as pastor emeritus of Chase Oaks Church in Plano. In addition to his pastoral work, Dr. Getz has authored over 60 books, created the interactive Life Essentials Study Bible, and produces a daily radio broadcast titled Bible Principles.

The resolution acknowledges Dr. Getz's educational background, which includes degrees from Moody Bible Institute, Wheaton College Graduate School, and New York University, as well as his teaching roles at Moody and Dallas Theological Seminary. It recognizes his exemplary standards in his vocation and the inspiration he has provided to many Texans through his messages of faith and goodwill.
