S.B. No. 2688 proposes the designation of a segment of U.S. Highway 281, located in Blanco and Burnet Counties, as the Muckleroy Memorial Highway. The bill adds a new section, Section 225.243, to the Transportation Code, which specifies that the designated portion of the highway extends from its intersection with State Highway 71 to Ranch Road 962. This designation is intended to be in addition to any existing designations of the highway.

Furthermore, the bill mandates the Texas Department of Transportation to design and construct markers that indicate the highway's new designation and to erect these markers at both ends of the highway as well as at appropriate intermediate locations. The provisions of this Act are set to take effect on September 1, 2025, and it is noted that the 89th Legislature intends for any new provisions added by this Act to be renumbered to avoid duplication.
