The Reintegration Therapy Training Act of 2025 mandates that institutions of higher education offering mental health professional degree programs require students to complete a course on reintegration therapy. This course will cover various topics, including alienation from self, familial reconciliation strategies, the nature of gender stereotypes, the binary reality of sex, and coping strategies for individuals who have experienced social or medical transitioning. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in consultation with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, will prescribe the curriculum and requirements for this course.

Additionally, the Act requires licensed mental health professionals to complete three hours of continuing education in reintegration therapy every two years. Failure to complete this training will result in the non-renewal of their licenses. The provisions of the Act will apply to students enrolling in mental health programs starting in the 2025-2026 academic year and to license renewals on or after January 1, 2027. The Act is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
